cyclic prefix ofdm

Hi ...
Can anyone tell me the difference between gaurd interval and cyclic prefix in an OFDM system...
Thanx...

how gaurd interval work

hi,
i think there is no difference b/w Guard interval and cyclic prefix.
The time interval of the cyclic prefix is the guard interval.

cylic prefix

There is a third time period. That is where a smooth transition between two symbols, each with a cyclic prefix, is.

guard interval cyclic prefix

in synchronization issues cyclic prefix is better.

ofdm+cyclic prefix+book

Guard interval is the addition in the symbol time to combat multipath, and cylic prefix is the part of symbol equal to guard interval which is copied and filled in this free gurad interval.

Added after 11 seconds:

Guard interval is the addition in the symbol time to combat multipath, and cylic prefix is the part of symbol equal to guard interval which is copied and filled in this free guard interval.

ofdm guard interval 20%

Cyclic prefix is to avoid the multipath effect.

Gaurad interval is to avoid the ISI ( interference due to adjacent OFDM symbols)
