7107ic

Is it possible to replace the ICL7107 with a series of 74LS series IC to produce a 8 segment LCD DVM?
Does anyone has any idea how to go about doing it?

You can't replace 7107 IC with 74(XX) .. on top of the 8-segment LCD driver it has A/D converter which is not available in the 74-series ..
Theoretically speaking, you can employ several 74-ICs + A/D converter - but - how would you compare a suitcase full of ICs with one small structure ???
