Which software can draw the best schematic figures?

Hello
Check the attached picture..

It is a collection of figures captured from different positions in Behzad Razavi 'Design of Analog CMOS Circuits' Book
During my work, I was drawing many schematics, block diagrams, ...etc.
but i use traditional tools (Cadence, ADS,OrCAD,...etc) but as you ofcourse know, they give non-beutiful figures like that in Text books we saw..

I wonder now, how could they draw such figures? what is the nice program they use in their books and papers? i hope you can help!

I wonder same thing...

I thinking writer using symbols in eps-format from good drawing program, or export eps from matlab, mathcad, gnuplot etc. (for charts) possibly autogenerated LaTex or eps figure from other selfmade program etc.

I try export or print from commersial CAD or simulation program, but many of then worked in base of pixel-based ugly figures and if try to export in vector format give very often vectoriced pixel picture as circle in point describe in 258 small line moving steps compare to one circle instruction in vector languge and file going very huge size and angled line and curves still stepping shape in big scale...

I try both eps, hpgl, SVG, wmf, and more small resolution emf but is hopless, picture renders first in pixel format internaly in program and after this, convert to vector format in export/print function... - and I want reverse order - vector-format first step and only...

In old DOS-based CAD program is easy to make good vectorized picture, depend of pen-plotter is only way to make colored sheets around 1985 - 1990, but after introduction of windows, is distaster depend of all standard plot feature seems using least one bitmap render pass in process to printer and very few program manufacture handle is other way if wanted one kind of vectorformat output as PS or hpgl in full quality and resolution...

Is much better in Unix/linux world, printer back bone is based of PS and application also make PS-output in right way (as vector decribe from source)
and render to bitmap only if printer unit need this

Is very nice if we can find 'standard-lib' for electrical component in text-book quality and shape for tex. LaTex enviroment or eps-block and can use PS-trix etc. to replace ugly font and text to more nice version...

In most IEEE and academic litterature using more or less same shape of component in text book, so i think exist of common used component lib, but how find this and if we can use without expensive special programs...

A PC based program which allows to extract vector into clipboard is Cohesion. The next best drawing programm is Visio, I think now owned by MS. You can define there a library very similar to you schematic library. Also the fixed grid setting mimic the EDA schematic look and feel.

Does anyone has an RF and analog components (FETs, BJTs,Diodes, ...etc) library for MS Visio ...

I found such libraries for sale on line on rfcafee site.

i would suggest,,,Xfig or Visio ...then convert your drawing to eps format....the picture looks great

For Xfig, can't it be installed on another OS rather than UNIX based systems?
