How to draw a 45 deg wire/bus line in Protel DXP Schematic?

Hi all,

I am a user of older version of Protel. Boy, things just got so much more difficult to use! I have been searching for the past one day on how to draw a 45 degree line/bus in schematic. Been trying all the various settings, anyone care to point out where it is?

Another question is the Find Similar object. Let say I wanted to change the pad size of only 10 LED's ( out of 20 ) on board. What should I do? Most of the time all the pads for 20 LED's are selected.

Dear chicken_feet,
If you want to draw a 45 degree line please follow the steps. Click the place wire tool and click the start of the wire, If you want to change the change the angle press shift + spacebar to change the angle and you are done. The angle ( 90degree, 45 degree or any angle ) can be selected by pressing shift+space again and again. The current selected option is shown in the statusbar in the down. Hope this will solve your problem.
Please explain clearly about the problem in pcb design. If I am able to give a solution, I will inform you.

ok, thanks for your help. For the second problem, let say, I have a total of 20 similar LED from the same library. Now, I wanted to change all the pad of only 10 LED. How to do it? Can you give me a step by step guide? I have tried selecting the 10 LED's and then right clicking on one of the selected LED's pad and then choose the Find similar... but the final selection are always involves all the 20 LED's.

Hi chicken_feet,
First put all the 20 LED's in the PCB editor. Now select the 20 pads of the 10 LED's individually by clicking Shift+mouse left click (only click on the pads not on the component). Now press F11 key to open the inspector panel. In the inspector panel you will be able to see tha attributes of the pads. If you want to change the hole size change the Hole Size attribute. If you want to change the pad size change the PadXSize and PadY Size attributes to your required value. Hope this will clear your doubt. Still if you have doubt please reply back.

I managed to do that, thanks! But are they any other faster ways? I remember in previous version, we can select all the necessary components and use the Global command to change the pad all at once. We can also indicate the types of pad out of the selected components which we wanted to change.

Anyway, that's a great help.

protel bus 45

Sorry to ask another question, I am having an error after compilation of the Schematic. I don't understand why is it an error. The error happens when I have more than a bus. In fact for easy reading purpose I have about 3 individual busses on a single schematic. Is that a problem?

Hi, In dxp2004 we dont have anything like global edit. We have to use the inspector as you used. What you have done is the fastest way as far as I know.
Can you please tell me what is the error message you got when compiling the schematic?

The error messages are -

Unconnected Line

Duplicate Net Names Wire N000-1 (Inferred)

I have several bus lines which are not connected and as far as I have checked they have no overlapping Net names. Meaning, Bus 1 and Bus 2 does not have the same Net as part of the connection.
