Please help by providing any reference document for any ADC design.

How will we decide the architecture?
How will we design the comparators, opamps i.e., how we will decide their Unity Gain Bandwidth etc

u must know the spec of this ADC.
Such as resolution ,SPS, etc.
Then select architecture.
u must calculat the gain and bandwidth of op (if u need op)as the ADC's architecture.
In a word ,you must select the suited ADC's architecture as you system's request. then design comp&op etc.

you'd better find a book about ADC. Allen's book is good for you

By the way, how to design a comparator and s/h under consideration of sampling frequency?

Hi,
If you have experiance of analog design but don't have any know how of ADC, then u should follow the following approach which, in my opinion, is effective.

1. Study ADC basics in short:
Johns+ Martin OR Allen OR Baker : ANALOG design book.

2. Go thru ur specs given for the ADC to be designed:

3. Go thru some recent research papers whose specs closely matches with ur required specs:
U can find it in IEEEXplore: If u don't have acces u can request in this board. U always can find the title and abstracts FREE in google/scholar.google etc.

=> At this point u have a fair understanding about what u are going to do. And out of several architectures availble u can choose only 1-3 architectures suitable for u.

4. Go thru details of ADC architectures and their merits / demerits towards meeting different specs:
Go through in details of the above selected architectures in details with all necessary points.
RAZAVI OR Plassche : Books on Data Converter
=> these will give u very much insight

5. Final selection of architectures:
Now u can choose final architectures for ur specs. But be sure about it. Some annotation is requires here by going thru papers and books back and forth and decide.

6. Start designing:
In this phase the paperd and the books u followed will help u. U also can go thru the following HAND BOOK of DATA CONVERSION which will help u throughout ur study and work. But this one is big. Thus don't get lost first. Although simple and easy going; it takes a lot of interest and time.

HOPE THIS WILL HELP U.....

gd luck...

sankudey

except for what sankudey said ,i think the experience is also very important.you'd better find one that had design ADC circuit and follow to him work for a wile.
regards

Thanks for all your replies.I have started designing
