Hi all,

I'm new to Virtuoso and layout in general. I have a hierarchical cell and I want to flatten it. By doing so can I match metal name one-to-one in the hierachical cell and the flatten cell? Example is something like this

HierarchicalTopCell
-> Cell Instance 1
-> Cell Instance 2
-> Metal 1

FlattenTopCell
-> Metal 1

So Metal 1 in FlattenTopCell is the same as Metal 1 in the HierarchicalTopCell.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

To flatten,go to Edit - Hierarchy - flatten

1. Copy your hierarchical cell into new library with update.
2. Check there is no cells from your original library left in layout. Design -> Hierarchy - Tree from Top to Bottom.
3. Flatten your hierarchical cell in new library as Teddy said. (Select All - Edit - and so on)
4. Remove all layers except Metal1
5. Rename cell as Metal1
6. Copy this cell into your original library.
7. Put Metal1 cell into origin of your layout.
