making inductors

can any one tell me how can i make inductors such as in microHenry?

we don't have the instrument available here for measuring such.

the basic theory of making an inductor would very much help me.

i have a lot of questions in my mind. when do i need to use a core?

i would like to make 980nH, 680nH, and 180nH by using gauge 18 magnetic wire. could this be possible?

how many turns of gauge 18 will make those inductors?

measure microhenry

Download the excellent program written by Wilfried Burmeister at **broken link removed**

It will calculate all of the values for you for air core, toroid inductors. There is a fairly good tutorial included in the HELP screen that will explain what calculations are being made and how.

how to measure microhenries

One option is to use cores of known AL ..
The beauty of this solution is that you really don't need to measure these inductors ..
