what is phono equalizer RIAA?

Guyz,

I'm learning about noise and i come across the term RIAA. I'v searched thru the internet but i couldn't get the meaning of the word RIAA itself.
I also wonder why some datasheet refer the RIAA as VNI (Equivalent input noise voltage), and some use spectrum density as VNI measurement.

any idea why some used RIAA (uVrms) as reference for input noise voltage and others used spectrum density (nV/(Hz)0.5)?
