modify tunecast i

Where do the wires lead? I'm asuimg the black and red are power, but what's the little black/red/green/white bundle? Mind you modifying one of these things is technicaly illegal (at least int he U.S. and most other countries with an equivilant to the FCC) However keep in mind boosting the voltage of the DC input will almost always give you extra range on these types of transmitters, just don't go overboard or things start emitting blue smoke, try an extra half volt, and add another half volt after extensive testing to make sure it's not heating up.

tunecaster antenna

Yes im fully aware that its ilegal, in fackt its not legal to even own this one here where i live, but i live "in the middle of nowhere" so the chanses for me to get in someones "way" is werry werry slim !

Now you mention it, i didnt realize that there were 4 vires leading to the jack ! I just measured them out, and the black is "dead" so maby thats an antenna ! I think Ill try to solder a bigger vire to the black and see what happens !
Thanks for the help !

Re: Antenna on TuneCast

The wire for the antenna on these things is usually VERY short, it may even be a PCB trace, they're really only meant to have a distance of two or three feet so don't be so sure the black wire is the antenna just yet, also keep in mind the antenna output is most likley going to be coming out of a small surface mount transistor. The transmitters on these things are pretty rudimentary so you might want to pay extra close antention to the area where the crystal is as this should be relativly close to where the antenna output should be. The rest of the circuit is gonna be the interface and the modulator.

Re: Antenna on TuneCast

the black wire is the ground. if you notice where the blue wire is soldered on, it should read ANT. if you grip that wire so's not to pull it off the board, you can pull it right out of the jack sheath. it's not connected to anything. keep in mind that although the blue sheath is a certain length, the length of wire inside is only about half that long. this information is strictly for educational purposes. i am only answering the question of where the antenna is located. no information will be provided as to how to LENGTHEN THE WIRE or any other information that could be used to modify the device as i do not know the laws pertaining to such a modification. what is done with this information is strictly on a private matter not involving or including me and i am not responsible for any misuse of this information.

on an unrelated issue, does anyone know the signal output of this device? belkin is selfish with this information and i do not own any equipment to find out for myself.
