Hi all,

I am noticing strage behaviour of HFSS in our lab installation. Every 5 minutes or so, it stops responding for about 1 minute and then continues perfectly. Simulations, results etc are all fine but this problem is irritating to say the least. Any cures ?

CST MWS? :)

Dear svarun,
I suspect that this problem may be related to the frequent use of the pagefile during the simulation. Some of my friends using HFSS encountered a similar problem. A good idea may be to check the taskmanager during simulation and monitor the cpu usage, memory usage, and the page file usage. So little problems may become so big annoyances :)

It may be loosing connection or having a slow response fromn the license server. Pull your network connection and see if it duplicates the problem.

I think, you need to check your computer's Processor temperature . During HFSS-simulation, you have 100% CPU usage and CPU temperature is very high. May be you have CPU overheating and Processor is stoping and waiting 5 minutes - it's delay time before thermal activation from high temperatures (You can select this time in your computer BIOS-setup).
Verify that the Processor's heatsink is properly installed and make sure the CPU fan is working.

Hi madengr,

Thanks. This was the problem. We shifted the license to a new server and it looks like it is stable now.
