Hello everybody.
I just want to say .Don't loose
your time with just another USB
chip .I had the opportunity
of using the FTDI chip.
IT is a little wonder..
you can interface it with anything
and the soft is free .
LINUX and MICROCRAP(SOFT) drivers free!!

Has anyone tried the ftdi 245 (USB to FIFO) device? Is it true you can use the same software drivers as for the 232 (USB to serial) part?

Does exist any solution which do not need to instal any SW into PC?
Only any "black box" with cable

How about PL-2303? Does anyone use this chip before? Try **broken link removed**. As I know, there is no this kind of class driver in USB spec., thus the driver installed is necessary.

USB and PIC:

Maxim has also a one chip resulution

I heard that on Mac those USB-RS232 converters encounter some problems. Anybody has experienced that too?
