data transfer through phone line

Hi , i want my PICmicro to send data to PC through phone line....how can this be done?

A quick and easy solution is to use a standard (old) external modem, connected to the PIC's serial port. See this thread:



Is this the type of thing you want?

There are other solutions, including tiny embedded modems and even (I think) an MCU with a built-in modem (not sure where I saw this).

or use MT8088 (DTMF code)
 

Use a modem, all commands will be AT and data transfer is via RS232.

How much do embedded modems cost? which one do u recommend?
