help for cadence virtuoso xl

I am using Cadence Virtuoso XL for layout design.. When i am trying to design a layout with multiple blocks, i am facing a lot of problems while making the interconnections. While connecting the blocks many a times the block gets selected and gets moved from its place. So is there any way by which i can freeze the locations of the block so that they dont move and i can make the connections without have a tension of the blocks getting moved.

Does cadence virtuoso xl have any such command of option in it .

eg a layout of 16 * 16 matrix of a latch. as it will have 256 latchs, so while making their connections i want to freeze the location of the blocks so that they wont move.

If anyone is having some info on this kindly let me know.

There is a button named "instance" in the upper left of the LSW window, you can turn it off if you would not like to select any instance.
