[SOLVED] I am confused how to go out for job.

Hello everyone.
I am currently working as a hardware and firmware engineer. I am associated with a company where I do not get a structured salary, sometimes I get it, and sometimes I don't my salary. Along with my technical work, I have also the responsibility to get work, in other words, I go to various industries to get work from them for my company. I have also participated in various funding organization to seek funds where I have also presented an innovative product which we can make with some initial capital.

In brief, I know the following things:
1. System requirement analysis which includes high-level design, system flow, low-level design, Gantt chart preparation, requirement documentation.
2. Hardware design which includes circuit design(schematic), PCB design, wiring diagrams, CAD models(using fusion 360), Sheet metal design(production level), hardware debugging, reverse engineering.
3. Firmware design which includes driver programming, PWM controlled application, basic communication protocols like SPI, I2C, CAN, RC5, UART, 1-wire, USB., and understand microcontroller architectures. Can work on any microcontroller.
4. Mathematical modeling, using MATLAB. understanding system control and closed controls.

these are my technical skills above. Along with that, I have the following skills.
1. Handling Client relationships, visiting new clients, biding for open tenders, negotiating with clients and vendors.
2. Making a presentation for investment, pitching a business plan, preparing revenue models, capital investment planning.
3. I know Legals for ESDM type incorporated companies which includes various types of tax, duties, balance sheet, and relaxation scheme of tax in India.

What projects I have delivered:
1. A hardware in the loop system which has dedicated use in simulating EV and EVSE especially for CHAdeMO and GB/T.
2. Welding inverter for GTAW and GMAW, for the project my responsibility was to make a simulation of multiple circuits, making a closed-loop model in MATLAB to seek trigger frequency and duty-cycles and design a firmware architecture. We were 5 members in my team.
3. Numerical control for specific weld assistance.

I am also doing part-time work in another company where I am designing a single-lead ECG system and PCG. I am earning here more in part-time than working in so many things in my company.

I am seeking some expert advice who can guide me on what I should do, where am I heading, what kind of job I will apply for. I want to leave my company, I am not getting a proper valuation. Please help

I do not think that the job condition in India is going to improve soon. Starting anything on your own is not going to be easy for the foreseeable future. As you are young, you may try in other countries, because I think recovery is going to be slow and painful in India.

How to apply for abroad jobs, I don't know the procedure. I don't know where to seek this information.

Can I get any more information on the type of work I do? And what is the right valuation of my work? How to go ahead, which path should I take?

Please guide me!

I'm not sure about your experience level ( may be ~5 yrs?). My suggestion is that since you mentioned so many things, its actually confusing someone to hire you. If you are at 2-3 year level , this is ok you have got an over all experience.

But my suggestion is if you are specifically looking for change ,then it is better to focus into few areas and enhance your skill set there. So just think about it which area you like most and work up on it.

If its a hardware job -focus on say Hardware design things like -Basic power supply topologies, MCU, SoC, DDR Memories etc. PCB Layout -Multilayer boards, Product Qualification: EMI, EMC etc. You can refer specific job opportunities listed in websites for Hardware engineer and have a look on the skill set mentioned.

Then a little bit of domain knowledge also can help -Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial, Medical ( refer product standards applicable to their domains)

I am having 2.5 years of working experience. Currently, I am working on a firmware-based project, developing few driver programs.

Just want to know (if you can add in more detail), I realized that I am more attracted to the overall development phase. Like a merge of both hardware and software. Projects which require serious hardware attention and software programming.

Can you suggest to me some of the job profile I should prepare for, to get my exposure on both the domain and excel in my future?

And can you also suggest to me some profiles based on embedded software engineers?

At 2.5 years if you are trying for system level role, it may not be easy in a big company.

You can try setting a target company - a product based company or a design services based, former may give more exposure to system level, but might be difficult to get in, latter require skill specialization ( hw, pcb or firmware etc.)

If you are good at finding work then you should
start your own company - from the sound of it,
you're already halfway there (spotty pay for
continuous work, is pretty much like startup
phase is it not?).

Have a good look at your employment documents
and see what you may be barred from, in the area
of taking the potential clients you contact for your
own business rather than your employer. It seems
to me that if you find these contacts for yourself
and you develop that relationship on your own time
and facilities, that you owe the present employer
nothing. But employers always demand that you
sign over things to which they are not really entitled,
because they wrote the paper.

However, you would have to step up your game.
You can't just tell them you "know some stuff".
You will have to provide a value proposition
backed by some credibility-demonstrating
work product, papers & patents, "creative
writing" and so on. If you depend on the
customer (including your employer at present)
to recognize and fairly reward value on their own
you will have plenty of company in the "circular
waiting room for resumes" (i.e. waste basket).

Now if you can "sell yourself" as a contractor to
a company, you will find it simple to do the same
for an employee position (perhaps even a better
one, because you must demonstrate broader
skills and deliver an impression that you are
worth more than one hand on a keyboard and
one on a mouse, doing just what you're told).
