rs232 to usb converter circuit

Hi, everybody!!!

I would like to implement a circuit wich can convert RS232, serial port to USB.
I've found at least one project, but it mainly used a module called USBmod1, wich it's too expensive,
So I would like to know if someone knows how to implement this kind of circuit, avoiding de expensive modules normally used.

Thanks, Helder Silva

cp2101 avr schematic

Try USB Complete By Jan Axelson ,it might be available in our forum ,you'll get the circuit there.

convert rs232 serial port to usb

you can use the silabs cp2102

it doesnt need external crystals, and its quite compact

there are drivers issues for linux, new drivers should be out 'now'.

schematic of eval board is self expl

I thank you all, but all the circuits yu've told me, have only one problem, uses IC's wich are not easy to find (like the CP2102 or FT2232), where I live in, but... Thanks anyway, if any alternatives known, please don't wait to tell me, ok?

Thanks, everybody

serial to usb converter circuit linux

Yes glenjoy said is true, as USB to RS232 cost less then 7$. where as developing own PCB with components will cost more then 25$.

it only needs 3 capacitors as in the Example Circuit Diagram
