Hi

I would like to know if it's possible to modelise an SMA connector by a "vertical" rectangle in hfss? Why and how?

Thank you

It's possible to model SMA connector but why you would like to model it using 'vertical' rectangle , any specific need?

I saw an exemple in an ieee article where they used an sma connector but in their hfss design, the authors modelised it as an vertical rectangle(excitation along z axis) which intersects( touches) an antenna coax cable(oriented along z axis) at 2 spots. Do you know why they modelised it like that?

Can you attach a pic of the SMA connector that you are referring to ?

You can use a sma connector from HFSS 3D component library included since v17 I believe.

Here is the SMA which I am talking about. Why did they represent it like that? In which case can I modelise it like this? Can I always do something like this?

I don't have hfss v17 ? I am using v13. Is it possible for you to send me the SMA that you are talking about please?

You were probably looking at a simulation using a terminal port. My preference is to use a modal port with dimensions that resemble the particular feed line. Look at the on line documentation for more details and information.
