Hi everyone can anyone please tell me how to calculate the rate at which gas is getting reduced in a cylinder and also will the gas consumed in a smaller burner be less than the bigger one if so what will be the rate at which gas is getting reduced in the cylinder .At the same time if two burners are ON gas gets reduced in a different rate so kindly can anyone suggest me how do i find out this calculation.
 

Hi,

Based on the rate of reduction in pressure in gas cylinder,you can calculate rate at which gas is getting burned/used.(Use Gas theory equation,P = nRT for ideal gas,do not remember real gases formulae).

using small burner/large burner it will depend on rate at which you are burning fuel.Again calculate based on pressure reduction.
 

It depends a bit on the gas, for some common fuel gasses like Butane and Propane, the pressure in the cylinder is sufficient that the gas exists in equilibrium with a large volume of liquid.

The canonical way to measure fuel remaining in such a case is simply to weigh the bottle, as pressure will be determined mainly by temperature until all the liquid has been vaporized.

In some high burn rate applications you actually get a frost line on the outside of the bottle where the boiling liquid has absorbed so much heat that water freezes on the outside of the bottle at the level of the liquid fill.

Of course there are gasses that remain gaseous in the bottle, H2 for example, in which case a simple pressure gauge suffices.

most of the gas cylinder have the pressure indicator in it.And in some there is the indicator in regulator.By knowing the pressure and the initial volume we can calculate the volume of gas in present time by using the relation PV=nRT.
