For the design of MMIC, since the inductor is too small , we can't use the inductor from the IC library directly. People often use microstripline to replace with inductor.

I don't know the steps for designing the MMIC, LNA for instance. Should I calculate the idea inductor value, for instance L=60pH, and use the microstirp line to replace the inductor to simulate?

Anyone has some suggestion? Thanks.

Hi

You can use the ADS smith chart tool for simulation matching impedance with microstrip line, which can easy to satisfy your requirement.

thanks

Meander Line type inductors are often used t obtain small inductors with high Q.If PDK inductor dimensions are too small, you may use meander line ( like a snake) to get small inductor values.
Even a closed form equation is not existing for those inductors, you can make an estimation by considering it as standard TL.

How do you know the q vaule v.s frequency for the meander line inductor made by yourself?? thanks.

A Meander Line can be tought as cascade connected coupled transmission lines and this coupling is variable of the distance between the lines.Experimental tryouts and some quick simulation will give you some idea.Simulation is better and there is a opportunity to optimize it.But as I have mentioned before, there isn't any consistant closed form equation.
