Hi !

I am struggling with a sensor from InnosenT (ivs-465, 24 GHz). I would like to extract the signal related to the distance.

So far I just checked the "3.2. First installation, real receive signals" ...

Does someone have already use this sensor or some similar ?

Thank for your help :) !

Search for papers on FMCW. You need to choose sweep voltage duration and and range according to your distance requirements, then perform FFT on received signals.

Although this sensor is very nice and cost effective, i would not recommend this sensor in modulated mode for outdoor product that needs serious worldwide sertification: for full temperature range frequency drift is about 100MHz (Fig.7 in appnote). This sensor have no PLL or any divided frequency output. Let's say you make FMCW system, then you will probably want to use wider band to make acceptable range resolution. With temperature frequency drift your sensor is easily radiate out of allowed band. So you need to do temperature compensation, and alter reference voltage for sweep according to temperature changes. But you can't rely only on Fig.7, you must do true measurements using decent spectrum analyzer at 24GHz and control your temperature measurements. I am aware that such sensors been used in good product that was limited export ability because frequency was out of band while testing temperature chamber during obtaining of certificate. What i am learned from this story that it is worth trying contact InnoSenT and ask wich product is best suited for such application.
