Confused on Eagle PCB drill, hole and VIA layer

Hi, Everyone,

As stated in the title, drill (layer 44), hole (layer 45) and VIAs (layer 18) are different layers in Eagle PCB layout tool. I wonder what's the difference between them? And which one is the real hole that the manufacture is going to drill on the PCB?

vias are complete padstacks which includes a drill hole. around that drill hole a coper pad is there. you may need to define drill hole size and pad size to obtain a complete via.

p.s. i do not use eagle , rather i use orcad, as i m professional. but i know about these words,as they are same in orcad.

Anyone knows how to differential drill and hole? I often heard people say drill hole instead of their being separated... Thanks

And how to draw a hole on layout? I only wanted a row of holes (no pads or anything) so that I can easily snap the PCB. (I have two PCB on the same panel)
 

drill hole is only one thing.. (it is a hole which is made by drill... simple)

you do not need to draw hole separately on your pcb,

make a padstack which has same size of hole and pad.. and use it as a hole.

i.e. make a VIA with drill (or hole) size if 1mm and make its pad also of 1mm then you'll have only a hole when your pcb is etched. make sue that if you want this kind of VIA for mounting purpose than you should make it non plated one. so it becomes more a hole than a VIA.
