Hi all.

I am facing a problem with "GTop PA6B (MTK3329 Chipset)" GPS Module.

- I gave power 4.8V from USB

- STATUS PIN is always HIGH. I connected a LED which is always ON. But as per datasheet, before 2D/3D-Fix the LED should Blink (STATUS PIN should give a Square Pulse with 1sec Width) and after 3D-Fix LED should be OFF (STATUS PIN LOW).

- I checked the GPS TX PIN (PIN9) with MAX232 Board, but no NMEA data I am getting. I am using 9600 Baud Rate (though I also tested 4800 and 115200 Baud).

Any advice. Do I need to do anything to get the NMEA Sentence? Is there any meaning of "STATUS LED always ON"?

Thanks in advance & Regards.

Hi,

I'm hitting the same problem... did you get a solution? Really appreciate it if you have any clues on this one.

Cheers
Tim

Hi.

My mistake was VBACKUP PIN was floating. Make sure VBACKUP PIN of PA6X is HIGH.

Regards.

Thank you very much indeed, that was my mistake too... just waiting for it to get a fix now...

Hi.

Nice to know. Are you using PA6B? I used this before.

I am currently doing a project with PA6E.

Regards.

PA6B... aka cheap and cheerful from AliExpress (which is actually a good place to pick up cheap Chinese components if you don't mind a 3 week shipping delay, often cheaper than Ebay, equally lacking in documentation, but worth a look!). I got some ST7735 driven displays and some RFM22B radio RX/TX units from there too, and all for "throw away" amounts of money. It's not so distressing if you toast something when it's cheap... which was a lesson I learnt last month: Beer + wiring new toys (backwards) = stinky and annoying.
