Considering the way HFSS defines S-matrix, I am wondering how we should extract s-parameters. HFSS has the option to calculate scaterring parameters for specific modes, like S(port1:1, port1:1) or S(port1:1,port1:2) and so on. So in S(portX:Y,portX':Y'), Y and Y' represent modes number which we have defined before, lets say in floquet ports assigning.
I have worked with COMSOL and it does not have this option of modes assigning to s-parameters, it only gives you S11, S21 and so on, so ports ratios.
Now I have to ocmpare results in COMSOL and HFSS. And wondering if I want to calculate S11 in HFSS, do I need to sum up all S-parameters with notation S(port1:Y,port1:Y')? And if I want to look into the first mode, TE00, still do I have to consider coupling of other modes on this mode, so all S(port1:1,port1:Y')?
