radiation pattern of 3λ

Dear Sir:

I am trying to simulate an patch antenna. But there are something wrong in defining waveport and boundaries. I have put it in the attachment. Could you help me to correct it? I need the result of E and H in the far field from 1GHz to12GHz.
My email: tw20053010@163.com
Thank you very much!

Regards,

Wei

I have seen the structure, I think the boundary is not good.
The patch and ground should assign PerfE.

My two cents:
Assume this antenna work at 10GHz, then the wavelength λ =3cm=30mm
the distance between your metal cap and the circular patch antenna is 20mm,
2/3 λ , I believe it will spoil the orignal radiation pattern.

So i prefer to remove the cap and reduce the size of radiation air box.

Even MoM require more dense meshing matrix, 1 wavelength λ 10segements should be enough, I checked your mesh refinement, maximum length you set is 1 mm, it means 1 wavelength 30segements, I think it is too strigent, no need to use such a fine mesh. And your model is too time and ram consuming.

btw, what is the radiation mechanism of this kind of antenna? there is no ground plane beneath the antenna, the radiation efficience should be very low, am I right?
another problem is the input impedance, is it possible to match it to normal 50 Ω ?

After my simulation finished, I will attach the results and keep u updated.

Best Regards,

Best Regards,

I just modified the model as the author wished for, by adding the pec cap. I do not know at all what he/she really wants to model.

Just got your message this morning, The attached figure is the simulation results, and I have send the whole porject file to you, It is really amazing that you using the same project file, but get such a different results. :( Did you change any setting to the project file I post here?

Please attach the project file you did the simulation here. Only s2p file, I cant get any information except the large discrepence of our simulation results.

Best Regards,

hi asdfaaa
i am new in hfss i have a question why he/she put a metalic box behind the waveport
can u send me the modified file about this project
thank u very much
