Hi,

Is it possible to convert a 12V DC to 240V AC inverter to run on 24V?

I have searched and searched, but every criteria I enter is too ambiguous, I either get info for 12V to 24V inverters, or either 12 or 24V inverters alone.

I would like to convert my 12V inverter into a 24V inverter, the output will be 240V AC.
I want to upgrade my off grid solar to 24V but a new inverter is too expensive.

Any help would be great, I have no problem changing parts, but I don't have a schematic for it, so I am not sure where to begin.

Cheers

Ben

Changing it to accept a different input voltage will usually not be a trivial task.

"but I don't have a schematic for it"...

Usually the input is chopped up and fed into a transformer providing the higher rectified voltage which is then chopped up again and shaped to form the output.
There will be a lot of protection and feedback circuitry that will not be happy with your 24V input.

i find that the efficency of your apparatus will be very lossy that i am really sure you may have to wait to know more

First you need to learn your 12 volt inverter circuit design.
Then you can simply migrate it into as you wish ..

I thought as much. I could never get the schematic.

My thoughts are to stick with 12V until the opportunity arises to just buy a 24V inverter.

The inverter is great, just wanted to reduce my overall current draw.

Cheers Guys
