hello, I'm new to altium - currently using allegro and every now and then pads. I'm trying to create a fab drawing for a new pcb. I'd like to know how to I first add a layer to be the fab drawing on artwork. Thank you,

Most Altium user use the Drill Drawing layer as the Fab Drawing.

However if you really want to add your own - you can do it in View Configurations Press "L" while you have an active PCB file and choose one of the mechanical layers click it twice to re-name. If you don't have any spare mechanical layers un-tick only show enabled mechincal layers and there should be a free one there.

Hope this helps.

In Altium Pcb-->file-->fabrication outputs, here gerber files and NC dril files generate the CAM files, this CAM file info is used for fabrication.

For layer selection press 'L' on PCB it will be open board layers and colours, here you can add layers.

Thank you very much , checking this out right this minute. Appreciate
