THANKS iamkamalrandhawa -- I have one faulty smps that rotates its cooling fan for only a while and stops when shorting green and black wires on 20pin connector please give some steps to sort the problem also please give information on oscilloscopes -- what type of minimum requirement of cro in computer motherboard , laptop motherboard and smps repairing needed ?? please help regarding this ..thanks in advanced.
Mr. peter this is an feedback problem in your smps. Mostly this occurs when some capacitors are blown up or some leaky diode's. check your smps visualy is there any capcitors is blown up or not and also check some diodes after the Stand by section. And if you need an cro for repairing motherboard's and laptop's then must have minimum 500mhz frequncey and dual channel's.

Can you determine if the short circuit is between wires?
This is common when the cable is flexed a lot. The insulation can break, exposing the inner wire to the outer wire. To repair it will require opening up the adapter (which could be a job in itself).
You'll need to cut away the damaged wiring, and solder the fresh ends to contacts inside.
check the output capacitors 1000uf/16v if deformed replace...or replace all deformed capacitors..if all caps looks ok..check the fullwave diodes for short usually they are attach by heatsink at the secondary side of the transformer..some times the transistor c945 also deffective..
