What are the differences between batch mode , interactive mode and GUI mode for tools? Is there any advantage of one over the other among these three tools? Is there any other mode of operation for a tool other than the above three modes?

Thanks

Interactive and GUI, are very close for me, it means your interact with the tool, to set up the scripts you will used in. Batch mode.
In batch mode, you use script, to execute what you want. Thisis great to automatize your job during the night, or to have automatic flow.
the gain of batch mode is your used the license only during the script is executed, in the interactive mode, you could forget to released a license and checkout a license which could be used by an other designer in your company.

These modes are not exclusive.

Batch mode means you have a script that runs the tool to completion. As opposed to interactive mode, which means you type a series a command to get it to run, and issue debugging commands. This is also called "debug" mode. You may pay a performance penalty for this mode in order to preserve the visibility of signals, as well as the ability to set source code breakpoints.

GUI mode is "Graphical User Interface", as opposed to CLI mode (Command Line Mode), which is completely text based. This is just a matter of whether you like to push buttons or type commands.

Finally, there may be a post-processing mode, which allows you to examine the results of a previous simulation run.

the gain of batch mode is your used the license only during the script is executed, in the interactive mode, you could forget to released a license and checkout a license which could be used by an other designer in your company.

Can you please explain the issue of license not getting in case of interactive mode in detail so that it is understood?

Is it that all tools in VLSI has the above three modes?

Some tools have a license for the GUI mode, but, it is generally very low compare the tool itself.
The majority of the tools have all of these mode.
Some oldest version of Astro (PnR from Avanti bought by Synopsys) has only the GUI mode. You could used script, but you will see the menu open, box command.... Functions of your scripts.

Some tools have a license for the GUI mode, but, it is generally very low compare the tool itself.
.

I do not understand what you wanted to mean by the above quoted statement. What do you mean by "generally very low compare the tool itself"? What is low here?

Again I did not also understand your earlier comment "the gain of batch mode is your used the license only during the script is executed, in the interactive mode, you could forget to released a license and checkout a license which could be used by an other designer in your company.". Can you please explain what you mean by " in the interactive mode, you could forget to released a license and checkout a license"? Please explain what you want to convey to us when you write "the gain of batch mode is your used the license only during the script is executed, in the interactive mode, you could forget to released a license and checkout a license which could be used by an other designer in your company.".

sorry sun_ray.

1-the license cost for the gui is generally low compare the license for the tool itself.
2-in interactive mode, you could forget to released the license during your night, which is the day work in other design center in wordwide company.

You wrote "in the interactive mode, you could forget to released a license and checkout a license ". I understand now what you mean by release a license . But what do you want to say about checkout a license here? How does checking out in interactive mode can be an issue?

you block a license which could be required by an other designer.
