[SOLVED] white board high frequency

can the ordinary white board support high frequencies ?


I am using serial port of 2 AVRs with 1Mbps speed
Does not seem to work properly although it works good in simulation


is it because of the board ?

Almost any PCB material is good to ~200-400 MHz approx. Above 400 MHz there are FR-4 and other Teflon-based materials preferable. I saw many PCBs of the ordinary glas-fiber laminate used without problems at ~2 GHz. Material loss can be countered by using shorter PCB RF lines. I would not advise to use ordinary PCBs where high power is used, above ~200 MHz.

It's more likely that your serial lines are picking up interference than anything to do with the PCB material. Can you check the lines with a 'scope?

If you are trying to get the two AVR's to communicate with each other (and if it's asynchronous) - are both their clocks accurate enough?
 

1Mbps is fairly high speed for serial comms - but not for the board. More likely you are making some mistake(s) elsewhere. Without further information it's not feasible to point out ALL possible areas for error, but the board itself is most likely NOT the cause
