Hello, i have attached the paper on which i have done the work and i have attached the HFSS file also of my design.
the paper has resonant frequency of 2.45 GHz with return loss of -27dB but my results are resonant frequency of 2.40GHZ with return loss of -20dB.
please check my and if it doesn need any correction please guide me
i will be very thankful to you.

regards

Your results are very close to the measured results given by the paper. This kind of a variation is expected, especially when working with antennas. The difference between -20 and -27 dB is totally ignorable. There are a few things you can do to improve you simulation setup:

1- Increase the number of passes in the analysis setup. (10 was not enough for the sim to converge)
2- Use a smaller step size in sweep options for better resolution in your plot.

I just noticed that this antenna uses FR4. this substrate is not good for high frequency use and different manufacturers have different permittivities. so such a variation is completely normal in your case.

thanks for your comment
but i want to ask about the step size, should i use lower value of step size than 0.1GHz.?
please me give me example of how much value i can put there.
regards

and here it is: the paper cites the permittivity as 4.1. you are using 4.4 (default for fr4 in hfss)

you should look at your s11 plot. using 0.1 your plot looks jagged. There is 100 Mhz between every data point. try 50 mhz or even 20 mhz.

i really got your post very helpful for me.
actually i m working on this paper so i want to enhance the result of this paper so can you please guide me more that how can i make its reult more better so that i can submitt my thesis

I am not sure how you can improve this paper. What is the parameter you would lie to improve? bandwidth? gain?

can you please teach me how to plot the gain in hfss?
i m new to HFSS?
i dont know for what values of theta and phi i should check the gain

I cannot write about every single detail. there are many tutorials out there about using HFSS. all you need to do is to insert a far field setup and after the simulation create a 3d polar plot to plot far field pattern.

I really don't see how you can improve this antenna with the amount of experience you have. I would try to use it in a different application or design it at a different frequency to create something new rather than simply improving it.

well i know that all how to insert far field and how to plot 3d but just i dont know for what values of theta and phi i should set.
but thanks anyways.

setting value? at which point? during the setup or when plotting?

during ploting, suppose i want to check the gain at freqeuncy 2.45 then what will be the theta and phi value

category:gain
Quantity: gain total,
freq: 2.45 ghz (default anyway),
leave all theta and phi selected. (primary sweep and secondary sweep)
choose Function: dB

Hi all, i am doing antenna design by using HFSS also. I get a nice return loss but my gain only 3dB. Any suggestions to improve the gain? help....thanks

why do you guys always forget to put the pec boundary on the outer side of the coax. put a bit of more work in your models. use colour and transparency options. Have respect for the work you are doing.

pec boundary? i dun understand about it. sorry. i m newbie of HFSS.

you can find the "pec" from where you assign the materials "edit configured libraries" then "material"

no need to use pec material for the outside of the coax. just use the "perfect E" boundary. material assignment is only for 3d objects not for surfaces.
you need to select the surface only.
