Has anyone used this machine for antenna / MW circuits fabrication ? I am having problem with the contour routing in the software CircuitPro. When I run it for cutting outside, it creates toolpath for both cutting outside and cutting inside. What can be the problem ?
Smith chart on a NA shows the input impedance w.r.t frequency. If you want to plot it on matlab, first find Zin from S11 (it will be an array of complex numbers). Then use plotsmithchart function to plot it. You will get exactly the same figure as you were getting on NA.
If you don't have...
I tested a patch antenna in a Satimo anechoic chamber and then tested it again using the EMSCAN. I found the readings very close. The gain was almost the same while there was 10% difference in the measured efficiency. I am still new to EMSCAN and I am working on it. I will test more antennas of...
Patch can be best analyzed using the cavity model. The lowest order resonance in patch represents the fundamental model. The other resonances which you are getting are most probably representing the higher order modes. Consult the Balanis book on Antenna Theory and using the dimensions of your...
Hi,
I will suggest you to first make a simple patch antenna of same dimensions as given in the paper on normal substrate and then make another one on RIS as given in paper. Analyze the antenna on the RIS and compare your results with the one given in the paper.
In order to understand the RIS...

Hi,
I also have similar observations. I measured several printed antennas in an anechoic chamber. In some cases, the results were close but in other cases, there was a huge difference. HFSS gave a 94% efficiency of a printed monopole designed on FR4 substrate. However, when measured in...
Hi,
I didn't understand your question clearly. I also looked at your design which looks ambiguous. The boundaries are overlapping. It seems you want to get the dispersion diagram. You should look for the method to simulate the periodic structure.
Hi,
An important starting point will be to first chose the antenna type for your design. Printed monopole antennas are widely used in the 700 MHz + range which are then miniaturized by shaping, reactive element loading, use of novel materials etc. Other antennas like slot antenna and patches...
If you want to get two resonance with patch antenna, the best way would be to first design a patch resonating at 3 GHz and then add a slot to make it dual band. The dimensions of the slot can be so adjusted that the antenna has a second resonance at 5 GHz
Hi,
In a similar simulations, I have used a lumped port which was equal to substrate height and microstip line width. So it was actually attached to the side of substrate between ground and microstip line. The box with PEC walls start from the substrate height and there was no overlap. The...
Hi,
In the characteristic modes solution obtained in FEKO, we can plot the eigenvalue vs frequency but is there any method to get the impedance matrix Z ?
