Funny Bug in HFSS optimizer !!!

Ansys HFSS normally uses the scattering parameters convergence as a termination condition. Although, this does not necessarily mean that the solution converged everywhere, it is a fast and efficient criterion.

Few days ago, I was running the built in optimizer in HFSS searching for the minimum S11. I discovered that the optimizer wasted a long time in simulating many different samples below the solution accuracy. I wondered why the optimization engine is not linked to the solver parameters such as the solution accuracy. This is very crucial. Let's wait and see what will happen in version 14
