After reading the following announcement I thought it might be of interest to forum members utilizing the 8051 and variants in their designs.
While the various Microchip PIC series of microcontrollers are well known and utilized by many of the forum members, the Microchip series of 8051 are not. The Microchip series of SST89V/ SST89E 8051/80C51 Microcontrollers may provide an alternative source for those forum members requiring 8051s for their designs.
NXP’s P89LV versions are 3V MCUs, and are 100% compatible with Microchip’s SST89V MCUs. Likewise, NXP’s P89V versions are 5V MCUs, and are pin-for-pin compatible with Microchip’s SST89E Microcontrollers and with prices in the $2 to $3 range for single quantities, they are an economical choice as well.
