Hi

To all loving friends here is small gift from fragrance couple of month hard working with lot of testing on hardware, Aim to share this to provide a classic JDM hardware that will never fail although this hardware came from a French web page. I redesign the whole new PCB adding universal ZIF socket, provide ability to program PIC from 8 pin to 40 pin on ZIF socket, This hardware will also work fine on laptop I personally tested on my (INSPIRON 4100 DELL) so this will stop era like JDM hardware not working or fail to program chip, all necessary required file and a well documented guide how to setup software and hardware to get every thing work I right way uploaded here in attach archive.

yes JDM advance will work with icprog but i think you never read document inside archive which stated that icprog have some timing issue that why o some PC it will not work as required

I can't really understand the reason why people want to use these crappy JDM programmers. People, we live in age or ISP and JTAG, programming an mcu in a socket is an outdated solution. If one calculates how much money he/she spent on non-wotking jdms, broken chips, damaged chip leads and so on you will prorably find that these costs have exceeded the cost of genuine Pickit (or at least clone from ebay).

It makes sense to construct DIY programmers when genuine ones are prohibitibely expensive (atmel, freescale). I've built about 4 or 5 diy programmers and none of them worked to full extent (most of them didn't at all). Then bought Pickit 2. U get a genuine programmer with extremely large support community for ~$40 or so.
 

Poorchava, while I can understand your point to an extent (especially about repeatedly wasting money on things that don't quite work), I think you are perhaps a little, unnecessarily disparaging of this.

$40 or so is still a lot of money to a lot of people, and a lot of people simply like to do things on minimal or self-made hardware. It's fun! There is still a lot of interest on the WWW about these types of programmers, so clearly people still want them. Personally, I have a project on the back-burner to make a small microcomputer based around an MC68010 CPU and handful of chips, all salvaged from boards etc over the years. That might seem a waste of time when I could get more processing power from a $10 Arm, so why am I doing it? Because I can! Like climbing mountains or cave diving. I'll certainly have a lot of fun building it (if ever, lol).

The excellent programmer very kindly given by Fragrance could be probably made for just a few dollars, if one is resourceful, and is made from readily available parts. The best things about JDM-style programmers is that they don't need a programmed PIC to work, and if it gets blown up by a mistaken connection, it's an easy fix. Unlike blowing up a PICKit.

My first programmer was a similar but parallel port design. I soon used it to program a PIC to build a 'better' programmer but that didn't stop the almost-free programmer from working on most PIC's.

I'm an amateur and cannot spend a lot on kit even now (life has different priorities), so if I can make something cheaply that does the job, and save the money for other parts and projects, so much the better.

We do live in an age of ISP and JTAG; we also live in an age of vast over-commercialisation and profiteering by huge companies in my opinion. If I can get through life without giving them any more of my money than I can help, and instead spend it on more needful things, I'll be happier when I die!

I do not think it is waste of money, (for some poor student) in some country pickit2 18f2550 not available easily specially in my country it is now available. Yes there is lot of crap JDM hardware floating on net which are not tested.
But by side some good and tested hardware are on net some year back GULSON share nice and small size PCB hardware here in edaboard (I made that hardware working fine).
Further although this hardware come from French web page I made some enhancement and added ZIF socket, tested it carefully on different types of pic then share it here further it work fine and great on laptop com port as well
I already mentioned in same thread that IC-PROG is not a good choice to use with JDM, there is professional software called WINPIC is good choice some other also such as PICPROG.

I really agree with FoxyRick and thanks for his comments.

Thanks it is wonderful to have good JDM programmer Thanks a lot. In your first post i found a missing connection. can you please check the attached Fig and comment on it,is it correct or not the connection from pin No 31 to ground. I am using my old JDM with PICPGM free programmer is the above programmer compatible with it can you kindly tell the settings for Picpgm.

thanks you very much for pointing error in schematic yes these all pin should be ground, but PCB design is correct and all these pin are grounded further send me the link for picpgm software so i can verify it with my hardware, i also updated my uploaded here
