The projector consists of 3 laser modules: red (635nm), green (532nm) and blue (450nm). Light beam emitted by those lasers, was connected by 'dichro' mirrors/filters. The filter reflects certain narrow wavelength, and passes the rest. Those filters have to be very precisely aligned at right angles, so that the light beam best overlap. For fine tuning the optics, some special handles 'kinematic mount' may be added. Those handles are relatively expensive, so in this case, the filters were installed with glue.
Red laser module is diode 635nm. It is installed in a standard collimator and the set of 3 lens with anti-reflective layer. The module is cooled to about 15 degrees Celsius by thermocell TEC, and the temperature of the diode is stabilized by feedback in the form of thermistor NTC10K, the capacity of the module is about 500mW.
Green laser module is modified CNI module, which emits wavelength 523nm. It is a DPSS module, which has about 1400mW. The modification consists in the fact that instead of standard diode 5W, diode 8W 808nm was installed. This was made to reach a larger power.
Blue module was self assembled, just like the red one. It consists of 2 laser diodes (NICHIA), which emit wavelength 450nm, the glass optics covered for proper wavelength, the temperature stabilizing system TEC and a beamsplitter 10x10x10mm.
The driver of the diode allows analogue modulation to about 40KHz, while TEC driver stabilizes the module temperature to about 15 degrees Celsius. The whole is installed in a housing from Chinese module 473nm.
- wavelength: 440-455nm
- fixed temperature: 15 degrees Celsius
- threshold current: 200mA
- operating current: 1500mA
- beam divergence: 1,4mrad
- module power is about 3W
Laser modules are powered from the industry power supply with the following parameters: 5V – adjusted to 5,5V and output current 20A.
