Hi,

I'd like to ask if there exist a 16 input encoder and has an output of 4? My idea is, I have 16 buttons, and it's quite impractical in my understanding to assign one IO pin of an MCU for each switch. So I would like to encode/demultiplex it so that I can an attain an output of 4 bits. I believe this will also utilize only one interrupt button for the whole 16 buttons.

Ex. Pressing Button 1, will have an output of 0001, button 4 = 0100, etc.

If this kind of IC do exist, can someone please give me the part number? I have searched the net but I only got this HD-0165, unfortunately it is not available on mouser and digikey.

Thanks.

There is 74HC147 but 10 to 4 encoding.
If you press more than one button at once... '148 output the highest button number, it has priority.

For 16 switches, there is only X-Y matrix scanned switches, using old 74C922, 923.

Thank you for this, if I can't find anything i will use two of this. It's better I suppose.
