Hi Fellows,
I found the solution that proved to be very good for my application. I used a Ringing-Choque DC-DC Converter topology and everything came up nice and smooth.
I assembled a prototype and got my -100 Volts driving 40mA to an external load from +20 VDC power supply. Ripple was...
Hi fellows,
I am looking forward a voltage converter, preferentially an IC because of the little area I have, to converter +20VDC to -100VDC able to supply 10mA max. This is to reverse bias a series of PIN diodes in a high power RF switch circuit.
Anyone can give me a direction on this ...
Hi fellows,
Narrow band filters in microstripline or even stripline on a substrate ? Forget it !!! You simply don´t have enough unloaded Q´s resonators.
In a practical perspective, you can regard 5% of percentage BW as a practical limit for a microstrip filter and 2% for a strpline filter...
Hi guys,
I have to deliver in no more than 3 weeks a couple of stripline band reject filters that are going to be made on 2oz 125mils Taconic RF-35 substrate material.
The project is ready to go so that now I need to find out a PCB House in US (to be in US is mandatory) able to make the...
saturn radio noise listen
DaveN:
Thank you so much for the information!! I never tried to listen to the planets but it sounds a good idea. I am definitely going to build a directional antena @21MHz to try to listen Jupiter during this coming apparition on my scanner.
I might be able to record...
Re: satellite communication
The evaluation of a satellite dish is performed by comparison of a parameter called G/T, which is the gain to noise temperature ratio. The bigger the G/T the better the antenna is. So to comapare just noise temperature is meanless, as if you had no atenna at all...
large signal stability power amplifier
I am assuming that by intermittance you meant that you have intermittent output power cutouts.
This type of intermittence might be caused by excessive current and/or voltage across the RF capacitors in the RF circuit in itslf and/or in the RF by-pass...
Re: RF power amplifier
If this is just for academic purpose, you can find in Excelics's web site a lot of devices characteized by a Curtice-cubic model. Also in the web site you can find the linear model for the packages.
So the whole thing is: you pick the model of the transistor's chip...
Re: RF power amplifier
As I mentioned before, Excelics has a brod range of choices for pre-matched power devices in 12GHz. Please have a look on www.excelics.com for details.
I also, don't think you will need to use any dividir/spliter in your amplifier.

Dfullmer,
Oh man that is so nice to know that you still have your scope!! With a 6.3 and a powermate x5 you are able to do great images of the planets and, as you said, be in very good shape for deep space imaging. I think you should try it.
To do planets I would recomend you to get a webcam...
Hi dfullmer,
Thanks for the compliment.
For planetary imaging I use a telescope LX-200 GPS - 10 inches f/10 assembled on a equatorial wedge, the focuser is a TCF from Optec, disk wheel from Atik, RGB filters from Astronomik and a CCD Skynix 2.0M from Luminera.
I also use regularly a...
Hi Friends,
I am just finishing to process some images of the 2008 Jupiter's apparition.
I got this image showing some details on Ganymed, one of the moons of Jupiter when it was coming out a transit. The atmosphere this day was exceptionally calm and stayd like that for no more than 8...
listen saturn radio emissions cassini
Hi avi9nash,
Very interesting your post. Truly fantastic!! I downloaded the file to play with it a little bit in Matlab and in some audio analyzer softwares that I had developed over the years.
Are you aware about any additional study and conclusions...
ccd skynix 2.0m
Hi Manasiri,
Thanks for your reply.
Dependig on what type of activity you want to do the choice of a site is more or less impacting. Of course you will be to perform better any astronomical activity in a site with a steady atmosphere, with no light pollution and with a very...
I have a pair of tuners from Focus Microwave. They are kind of expensive but very reliable to work to 18GHz.
I also bought another pair of tuners from General Radio (GR) in e-bay. The are OK to work up to up to 1.5GHz. Keep an eye over there that you can find good bargains.
Anyway keep...
